Paragraph Breaks and Flushed Text

There is a specific code to indicate paragraph breaks: «p». Paragraphs after level 1 and 2 headers do not need this code; all other paragraphs do. This code indicates to the printer that the following text will be slightly indented.

There are times that the text should not be indented even though there is a break in the flow of the paper. This happens, for example, after an equation or if there is a block quote in the middle of the paragraph. In this case, use the «f» code for flushed text. You do not have to use initial caps for the text following the «f» code if it does not make sense to.

Using the Toolkit

To insert the «p» code, make sure that your cursor is somewhere, anywhere, with the paragraph you wish to format. Then, click «p» in ABRA. This automatically places the «p» code.

The «f» code has to be typed in at the start of the flushed text.
