Sample References

The easiest way to format specific types of references is to style them according to examples. Although this may seem complex, with practice, it becomes much easier. For instance, in general, every citation should include who is responsible for the material, a title, and how to find the work, and there should always be a part of the citation itself in italics. If you have any questions as to how to format any reference, feel free to consult other Copy Editors or your Journal Supervisor. The dissemination of information is a wide and constantly shifting intellectual mire, after all--but all you have to consider is whether the reader will be able to reliably find a given source.
