Formatting APS Journal Articles :: Special Cases
These articles deal with controversial concepts in physiology. Point-Counterpoint articles shed light onto key features of processes that remain a matter of dispute among scientists and are solicited by the Editor-in-Chief. Authors are encouraged to remain civil and to cite definitive studies.
In contrast to Letters to the Editor, Point-Counterpoint articles are composed of only one long manuscript with several information segments written by the authors. It has one manuscript number, DOI number, correspondence, etc. Thus the entire Point-Counterpoint discussion is printed as one large article, so that the information is run into itself in a logical sequence of point, counterpoint, rebuttal, counterrebuttal, etc.
At proof stage, "Point-Counterpoint" is listed in the banner line of the article.
