Formatting APS Journal Articles :: Special Cases
Theme articles are published only in the GI journal. The Theme consists of a series of articles relating to a given scientific area. There can be multiple Theme articles in a given issue, but only one article from a specific Theme series can be in an issue. For example, you can have articles from Themes 1 and 2, but you cannot run two Theme 1 articles at a time.
At proof stage, "Theme" is listed in the banner line of the article.
Articles have a statement on the Title page stating that they are part of a Theme and what the topic is. This information has to be added before the Title line. At proof stage, the Title of the paper should appear as follows (note the break in the title, capitalization, and periods):
Title of the Theme.
Roman numeral of series. Title of paper
The abstract should appear as follows: Authors. Title of Theme. Roman number of series. Title of paper. Journal info.
Theme papers are styled as though they were regular articles.
