Supplemental Information

Supplemental information is data for the paper that is either too complex or unsuited for publishing in print. This includes large data sets, such as extensive tables or gene sequences, and nonprintable material, such as video clips and movies. As the Copy Editor, you responsible for making sure that APS has the necessary supplemental material available and that it is correctly referenced in the article.

Basic Information

Always verify with the APS Web Copy Editor (Michael Gentry) that the supplemental material is present and available.

Supplemental data files are posted to the journal's on-line website when the article is published. If the author mentions the supplemental data in the text of the article, then reword the sentence so that the following information is explicitly stated:

Supplemental data for this article is available online at the [Journal] website.

If the supplemental material is not cited in the text, then simply insert the above statement as a footnote at the beginning of the article.
