Running Head

The author must provide a running head, which can be no longer than 55 characters and spaces. If the running head is too long or not present, query the author.

Exceptions

Physiology does not use running heads.

The running head should be all caps, roman.

Use small caps to represent lowercase letters in terms and abbreviations that normally combine capital and lowercase. Terms and abbreviations that normally contain small caps should also be small-capped in the running head.

PH, CA, MG

L-NAME, ON-CELL, OFF-CELL

CA2+ AND NORADRENALINE EFFICACY: DOSAGE DIFFERENCES

Terms and abbreviations that use inferior lowercase letters should also use inferior lowercase letters in the running head. Note they are not small caps.

[CA2+]i, [CA2+]o

Using the Toolkit

Use the «short» code to begin the running head.

If the author repeats a header ("running head," "running title," "short title," etc.) in the manuscript, delete it.
