Large data sets, such as extensive tables or gene sequences, and nonprintable material such as video clips, movies, and CDs may be suitable for publication on the journal website as supplemental data. Supplemental data should be submitted via APS Central and made available to reviewers and the journal Editor.
If a manuscript makes reference to supplemental data, contact the Online Production Editor to alert him that there are supplemental data files for that manuscript. The Online Production Editor will locate the files on APS Central and create the data supplement web page. If the files are not on APS Central, you may have to query the author.
Supplemental data files will be posted to the journal's online website. Copyeditors should insert a note alerting the reader to the existence of supplemental data into the text of the article. If the author mentions the supplemental data in the article's text, add the note immediately after the first mention as a parenthetical. Otherwise, if there is no explicit mention of the supplemental data in the article's text, add the note as a footnote at the beginning of the article.
The text of the note (both versions) should read:
(The online version of this article contains supplemental data.)

Authors are responsible for creating their own video files. The video must be compiled in a format that APS can access and view. We recommend .mpg file format, using either Quicktime or Windows Media Player.
Due to space limitations, APS cannot accept video files over 10 megabytes in size. There are several ways to keep file size down:
Extensive tables of data, appendixes, mathematical derivations, extra figures, computer printouts, and other supplementary material may be submitted for deposition (without charge to the author) with the National Auxiliary Publications Service (NAPS), c/o Microfiche Publications, P. O. Box 3513, Grand Central Station, New York, NY 10017. The material should accompany the manuscript for review by the editors. On acceptance, it will be deposited by the APS Publications Office with NAPS. A footnote will be inserted noting the availability of the material on microfiche and giving the NAPS Document Number.
